I’m ready to share a few dining room updates – but just remember the dining room is far from being completed. What? Yeah, you heard me…I’m ready to share a little update. Ignore the mess on the counters in the kitchen – I’m not ready to share that room, yet. haha
It all started with the hope-chest. And the floors – haven’t finished that post, yet.
I know you’ve heard me (if you’re a fb friend) say – I’m looking at paint samples for the dining room, how I decided on the paint sample, working on the leaning mirror, and how I painted the apple and pear…I also changed the curtains.
Here’s a few of the venetian plaster – I don’t have any full room photos on the iPad…I think the photos I’m about to share with you – are good enough for show and tell! LOL
Yes, I went there – blue venetian plaster on top and gold on the bottom. I know, you don’t have to tell me…it’s really pretty! That horizontal line – that was the chair rail.
Before the sanding -
This photo was snapped after I sanded the venetian plaster. Well, after I sanded the wax off the venetian plaster. See the cranberry? Yep, that was the first time I painted the dining room. Note to self – hunt down those photos!! And you can see the curtains that were in the dining room – IKEA leaf. I still like them, but not for the dining room.
And then came the paint chip – Copen Blue
A view of the blue venetian plaster and the Copen Blue. The copen blue makes a huge difference in the dining room – its lighter.
Here she is – almost finished
The infamous leaning mirror is completed! This beauty was a dream I had many years ago – the mirror is from the upstairs hall bathroom. We used mirror glue and plywood to secure the mirror. After we secured the mirror and the trim, I used one coat of stain – sanded it and was done. Let’s be honest, I was impatient and didn’t want to wait any longer – this mirror took several years to complete. Not really, but ya know – the mirror sat in the garage for years, we bought the plywood last year, yada yada yada…so years later.
We still need chairs and some sort of shelving for my antique dishes – that are now in cardboard boxes. I found two chairs that I’m eyeing at Pier One. The others will come from thrifting. As for the shelving, I plan to make something…unless something falls in my lap.

Well, gee whiz….I just can’t see past the MESS in the kitchen!! lol (j/k)
LOVE the dining room. The mirror is incredible! And you have the EXACT dining room table I want – big and chunky. I could never find one after my divorce, so bought a nice set, but would love to sell it and get one like yours. Love the chest color and the contrasting pillow too. I had some great pillows like that from Pottery Barn my mother had given to me – green and light purple. Stupid me forgot to take them post-divorce! I loved those things!
I knew you’d notice the mess! ha Thank you – I really love how the mirror turned out! The dining table is from a road side stand – it’s “Mexican Style” … I’ve had it for a long time – the cats use the legs as scratching post! We never bought chairs for it – but we did buy a bench that I mentioned in a previous post…. That bright green pillow came from my last trip to IKEA – I have a few more, but they are in the wash….cause the cats love laying on them. lol
