Bringing Color Back

I worked on a few spray paint projects this weekend – for the front porch…eventually! But instead of making you wait for that whole thing to unveil I’m gonna go ahead and share a few of the things I’ve been collecting.

Say hello to my pretty friends -

This poor rocking chair is like a cat, it’s on its third of nine lives – I don’t have the a photo of the first life on my iPad – just picture this as a visual …. Crackled cranberry paint over tan. Yeah, I know, sounds exciting!! PRETTY!! You can’t say eww though – that was about ten years ago. Cranberry was the IN color – yeah, it was! Yeah it was!! Just ask my family!! Tan walls (not just any tan – I went all out with a RL dark tan), cranberry curtains and the crackled cranberry rocker! We were super fly decorators in the early 2000′s! Oh yeah, I was a blogger back then – so I know I have photos somewhere here on our server!

After the dark tan and cranberry phase – I wanted something different! I decided on a golden khaki color for the walls. And that sent the rocker to its second life – what you see below. We have a 120 gallon salt water tank in our family room – so that was our theme. Notice the multi-colors…awesome, I know!

See the salt water press on fishes? They are super cool, huh?! They were before they faded.

And the after – the third life of the rocker – use your imagination and visualize a brightly colored pillow resting on the seat of the rocker – yeah, that one… I just haven’t found what I’m looking for.

This is as old as the rocker – yep, you guessed it… crackle and cranberry, again. Look, I had a problem with crackle and cranberry – I admitted my problem years ago and I accepted help! I don’t really have a favorite color combo now. And yes, that is a Christmas wrapped rosemary plant in the background. And to the right of them – is my Thanksgiving mums, that are blooming – crazy, huh?!

I sprayed it yellow – obviously! And placed it on the plant stand…and maybe it’s just me, but it didn’t do it for me. Too monochromatic no contrast. Back to the front yard with a different color of spray paint!

And the after – red (see how the red pops off the shelf), chevron, and French! I kinda love it! That plant isn’t dead, I just need to pop off the dead blooms. And I’m pretty sure those flowers won’t be staying in that container – it needs smaller plants/flowers due to the handle – so I’m on the look out now.

I don’t remember where this cute flower pot came from – pink roses?!

And the after – so bright and happy! Bye-bye pink roses!

And finally, the black iron doormat. Look at all that rust?

And the after – I’m on the fence with the color. It’s supposed to be grey. Maybe I need a lighter grey – Maybe once the whole front porch re-vamp is completed…

I really do agree with you on the stark yellow. The new red is awesome with the script! And I like the color gray on the doormat – a unique piece, so it is better than if black or a more muted gray.

You’ve been busy!! I love the planter too. I have a huge wardrobe dresser that needs to be finished. I finished a 3-drawer dresser many years ago with off-white/cream color, and because I forgot to prime it, it crackled all on it’s own – kinda cool! I then stenciled vines and leaves going up the front onto the drawers. I’ll post a pic when I drag this old body upstairs!
