I’m gonna start this by saying – I can use a sewing machine… But didn’t! I measured from the ceiling to the floor & purchased enough fabric for two panels. I purchased the houndstooth fabric at Hobby Lobby. I’m not being paid to say that. It’s just where I found the size of houndstooth I liked best! I also purchased heavy duty heat & bond or wonder under – whatever its called now. And I purchased a new iron at Bed Bath & Beyond – again… Not being paid to say that… You see where I’m headed with this… I hope. The process of ironing on the heat & bond and hanging the two panels took about an hour. It was a straight forward hem on three sides – I did not hem the tops of the panels. You’ll never see that part unless you’re looking… And that’s when I decided that the two panels weren’t enough – it just didn’t look full enough…if that makes sense?! So – back to Hobby Lobby! I didn’t realize HL closed so early on Saturdays. I ran to the fabric & found my houndstooth & took it to be cut. Only to find [...]

Tonight I made snickerdoodles for my family. I used the recipe from Smitten Kitchen – they were perfect! Do exactly what the recipe says – my only issue was that I used a dark cookie sheet for the first batch & they started to burn a bit on the bottom…so I switched to another cookie sheet. And here’s my yummy goodness! Pin it

We started our day by visiting the tourist attraction known as “Sears Tower” as the locals still call it. On paper and according to Wikipedia – it’s known as Willis Tower. It was on our list last year, but we obviously didn’t get there…because we went this year. And weren’t we surprised when we opened the curtains in our hotel room to see this! The walk over would be short! Only a parking garage between us! We decided to wait until Saturday to visit the tower – the weather dictated that. I mean…look at the photo above. Can’t see much through the clouds. After Dawn arrived we hit the town – ok, so we walked over to Willis Tower. If you look and squint your eyes…you can see the four tiny glass boxes at the top. That’s the Ledge. See the Ledge? There’s four – the tiny glass boxes! I couldn’t believe all the que lines available for the tower – we didn’t stand in a line at all. Walked in, took the elevator up, bought tickets, “watched a movie”, and there we were… 103rd floor with a 360° view. Looks like Raye is floating – We look a little [...]

After the PedWay Tour We were hungry and thought we’d eat at the Christkindlmarket – but it was more crowded and … It was cold! And I really wanted to find a restaurant that we could sit inside and relax. So, after the Christkindlmarket… We crossed the street to the Italian Village! On a whim…no research, no yelp help, nada… We walked in and had the best lunch! The service was great, everyone that walked by our table was genuinely helpful. The menu was amazing! The inside was beautiful – we sat in a two person booth (you can see Raye’s sleeve – to the left of the photo…) RAVIOLI CON FUNGHI E CAROLO NERO hand crafted pasta stuffed with trugole cheese, hand dipped ricotta and parmigiano cheese, seasonal mushrooms, tuscan kale, cippolini I wanted to lick the plate! (Raye had ravioli with their red sauce & it was delicious, too!) After lunch we headed back to the hotel (to drop off our Christkindlmarket bag) – and to warm up before we headed back out. Cloud Gate at night with the city reflecting off the bean Our reflection in the bean. After our photos we sat there and listened to [...]
